A NEW SEASON FOR SOIL INSIGHTS

As spring arrives across the UK, farmers and agronomists are preparing for the season ahead following one of the wettest winters in recent memory. Extended rainfall can affect soil structure, oxygen levels and biological activity beneath the surface, making this an important moment to understand what’s happening in your fields.

At PES Technologies, the start of the season also brings some exciting updates including the launch of PES Direct, new technical content, and a busy calendar of events for 2026.

INTRODUCING PES DIRECT

PES Direct is our new service bringing rapid soil testing directly to farms. Our team collects soil samples in the field, which are analysed using ScentsCheck™ technology and the PES app to provide fast insights into soil condition and biology.

Unlike traditional laboratory testing, key biological indicators can be analysed in minutes rather than weeks, helping farmers, agronomists and facilitators better understand their soil ahead of the planting season.

For those looking for even greater flexibility, PES units are also available to purchase, giving users the ability to carry out soil testing whenever they need it, all year round.

TECH TUESDAYS

We’ve recently launched Tech Tuesdays, a regular series where we share insights into soil science, ScentsCheck™ technology and how rapid soil diagnostics can support better decision‑making in the field.

EVENTS IN 2026

The PES team will be attending a number of key events this year, including:

  • UK Agrifood – 26 March

  • Cereals – 10 – 11 June

  • Groundswell – 1 – 2 July

  • REAP – 4 November

If you’re attending any of these events, come and see us to learn more about PES Direct.

NEW ON-FARM PROJECTS

PES Technologies is exploring opportunities to work with farmers and partners through ADOPT and FIPL grant programmes, which support innovation and sustainable farming projects across the UK.

These grants help fund on-farm trials and demonstrations of new technologies and practices that improve soil health, productivity and environmental outcomes. We are currently looking for farmers or organisations who may be interested in running a project using PES technology to better understand soil biology in real field conditions.

Our team can help support the process by assisting with the grant application and project setup, making it easier for farms to take part.

If you’d like to find out more about these opportunities, please get in touch with the PES team.

A MESSAGE FROM THE CEO

“This year marks an exciting step forward for PES Technologies as we continue to grow and develop what we offer. Alongside delivering rapid soil biology insights, we’ve been focused on building out additional data and interpretation to give a clearer, more complete picture of soil health.

By combining core biological results with supporting data and easy-to-understand outputs, we’re helping farmers, agronomists and facilitators better understand their soils and make more informed decisions. This is especially important as we begin to expand internationally, working with partners across the EU and Australia to bring our technology to new markets.

With the launch of PES Direct and continued development of our platform, we’re making soil insights more accessible and practical for users both in the UK and around the world.”
